In this type of social media, users are represented by avatars, which they can control and guide through virtual, three-dimensional environments. However, there are some interaction restrictions (e.g., limited self-representativeness).

Sims and World of Warcraft are great examples of virtual game worlds.

In this type of social media, users are represented by avatars, which they can control and guide through virtual, three-dimensional environments that are quite similar to real life. In virtual social worlds there are no interaction restrictions, except by the ones existing in real life (e.g., gravity).

Second Life is an example of a virtual social world.
